Listening at homeopathic volumes

Idle question: Listening to ? heavy and busy ? music, I mostly like the volume way up so that I can be ? taken away ?. I?m sure most here will understand.

A strange discovery:

Some late night listening has forced me to have the volume way down ( and I mean way down, less than 1 on the dial ) and, well, I?m hearing details I have not noticed before. All across the spectrum, so not restricted to highs or lows,  mid range, treble or bass.

Anyone else experienced this or can comment.
