Hi all, I have a reasonably old Kenwood KRF-V5050D Audio-Video Surround Receiver that switches off randomly. I replaced it years ago with a Yamaha Amp, but I have hauled it out of storage to see if I can resurrect it.

I have set it up with a pair of Yamaha NS244, and I get sound out of it for a few minutes, and then it seems to randomly switch off. It goes dead, but sometimes, after about half a minute or so, it switches back on.

I opened it up and found most of the circuit boards covered in fine dust (the amp is old—maybe 40 years?).. I cleaned the boards and general interior carefully in case there was some shorting via the dust, but this made no difference.

It's not overheating because a), I'm not playing at high volume and b), it's not on long enough to get hot.

Any suggestions?

Rgds
