Amp just fried my speaker - OR what just happened?

I was listening to a pair of Platinum Audio Studio-3 speakers. I had it hooked up directly to a Yamaha RX-A2070 and they were playing fine.

I added a Rotel RMB1066 amp into the mix. Preouts from the Yamaha. Rotel in bridged mode.

Within seconds there's smoke coming from the RHS speaker so I switch off immediately.

See the pics, the speaker is fried.

What could have gone wrong? Any ideas? My non-technical brain says the Rotel is the culprit since everything else was as before.
