I hope somebody can hep me with a simple & understandable answer. If I want to play back high res audio files from my laptop connected to an old fashioned digital receiver, how do I best accomplish that? I have both HDMI and network cable connections on both products. What software do I need and how do I route the audio output to the specific connection. I have iTunes as well as HP Connected Music (Meridian) software, but not sure how to program it for the audio to be routed to the relevant output. Also, I assume the old fashioned AVR would not recognise FLAC or ALAC files so should I keep it in in a lossless uncompressed PCM standard (WAV, WMA or AIFF) or would the Meridian software be able to output any of these formats in PCM?
