Turntable cartridge hour meter, any ideas?

Been looking for an hour meter to see the use time on my cartridges. Have not been able to find something useful yet? There are mechanical timers and digital ones, but all requires a hooman to start and stop the timer. I forget mostly

So looking for something automated. Otherwise I will have to design and build one. Any ideas?
