Another stereo related post on my accidental "acid test". I'm fully aware that the tastes on the forum is somewhat moving away from pure stereo and most will find these stereo related posts boring.
I played two CD's, the significance of which is that these were 2 channel recordings of two respective rock concerts, hardly a proper studio set up with sub standard acoustics subject to the vagaries of where the mikes were place, weather, etc. etc.
A solid stereo setup will struggle to "place" the singers, back up vocals, instruments, audience. This will extend to it's ability to deliver instrument frequencies e.g. drum kicks, electric guitar riffs, piano solos.
"Separation" of everything so that it doesn't all appear in a single "lump" is crucial.
If your system can accomplish all of this without struggle and sound musical and not a "Hodge podge" of a sonic mess, then you're doing well.
Not many setup's can accomplish this.
