I am potentially interested in a pair of Pioneer CS-05 speakers for sale on Gumtree, but am concerned that the woofer may be a cheap and dodgy replacement. I phoned the seller who appears to be a trader couldn't confidently give me an answer.

You will see that they are not the omni-directional CS-05, but rather a 3-way with 10" woofer, 4" mid and 2" ribbon.

JoshDeet (who is not active on the forum anymore) previously did a restoration on the complete Studio-Boy 101 rack and speaker set and gave high praise to the speakers.

When I look at the Gumtree speakers and compare them to JoshDeet's, it seems like not only are the surrounds different, but possibly the entire driver? Can any one on the forum give comment on whether it looks like a cheapie or decent driver? PMB is quite a drive from Durban and I don't wouldn't want to drive all the way there to demo/test a 'Frankenstein'.

Thanks in advance  :dop:
