In a room setup that unfortunately only allows for the listening position to be on the back wall, would there be any benefit to 7.1 over 5.1?
The reasoning is that in a 5.1 setup the SR and SBR channels are theoretically combined, and so the audio movement from front to back ends at the listeners R position 90 degrees from him. If one adds the additional channels, the audio movement remains the same, with the added benefit of additional speakers aid a more natural sounding movement.
If so, would one still consider a dipole?
