There WAS another 'Victim' from Sunday's Toppling Desk Fiasco
« on: February 13, 2018, 10:00:56 PM »
As with the monitor screen (now replaced), my Roland Edirol audio interface also has no marks after Sunday's fall but is kaput and will have to be replaced. My needs are modest - only for listening to youtube oldies and for recording from 78rpm shellac discs.

I'm happy with Roland stuff and made some enquiries today. The price is a whisker below R2K and what do you think about this one

Your advice please.

Thank you

This looks good.
I bought a Behringer but the box is empty after my extended trip.
So in the market for a multiple source like this.

Guitar input is a waste for me.

Oom skollie, just keep an eye open on Gomboom, there some that pop up on a regular basis.

Hi Mervin, Gerlach

Thank you! :)

I just had an email from the supplier re the item I supplied the link for - I was ready to buy this morning but the email said "It will take a few days to get here". Instead they offered something called Rubix 22. I suppose I can wait a "few days" but it is a bit silly to offer something you have no stock of.

I've never heard of Rubix 22 and will have a look now.

I will look to see what's going on  gumtree.

Cheers

Hello Agaton Sax

Thank you. Your recommendation counts for 10/10 :) I will make some urgent enquiries re stockists.

I'm dealing with B**hn***s where I bought the now faulty interface and will ask them now to get one for me.

And a compliment - I now rate Cape Town (Slaapstad) below EL ;D

PS I don't know what games the aforementioned dealer is playing. Besides the R1'000 premium on AS's estimate which is understandable due to our weak currency, I called Bothners a few minutes ago and now they suddenly have 4 (FOUR) other brand models in stock below my budget of around R2K or maybe a little more.

My usage of an interface is intermittant and doesn't warrant spending much more. Trying to 'oversell' for as much as possible by the reseller doesn't work with me. Neither does offering an item FS and a day later telling me they have no stock, also.

The 2i2 above is very good for the money.
Presonus is another brand worth  looking at.
Used AVID interfaces would be first prize. I got lucky recently with a Mbox 3.
Expensive cables come in fancy silk lined wooden boxes to make you feel better about spending a fortune on them.

Thank you for all the replies, gentlemen

The interface AS recommended is apparently out of stock all over CPT. This afternoon, I  bought a Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD fer betta or wors as my requirement for a replacement for my broken Roland is not that important.

I think I got a good deal - marked and printed on the box R2'299 and I got it for R1'725 with an extra cable set.
