Have a friend of mine whose AV receiver was taken out by a power surge. The insurance replaced it with one that has Dolby Atmos. However, even though he has a few Blu-rays with Dolby Atmos encoding, the AV receiver is not showing that it's receiving such a signal from the Blu-ray player. It's a Sony, about 5 years old, so he's wondering if he needs to do a firmware update on the player. Personally I haven't bothered even thinking of going the Atmos route, so I'm unfamiliar with the format and its requirements. Can anyone suggest what the issue may be?
