I have a Sony AV amp STR-DH820 connected via 2 HDMI cables to a LG LED TV and Mac computer. Is it possible to watch video while listening to music from the Mac on this setup? In the old days before the advent of HDMI, the simple solution was to run video sources directly to the TV and keep audio separate into the receiver, like I did with my old pre-HDMI Yamaha.
At present I am using the coaxial output from the DSTV explora to a separate input on the tv (no composite on the explora) and the picture is really bad. So if I want to use 2 digital sources simultaneously I have to compromise? All I want to do is to listen to digital music and watch digital video from different sources simultaneously , is it not possible on modern amps
