Dear friends,

I am the proud possessor of a much travelled, much loved, much battered iPod. I bought it about 15 years ago in Phoenix Arizona.

But I do need to move on and invest in something a bit more hi-fi than the scratchy dull old Zeppelin and assorted other downloads I have on my iPod.

So I would like to keep my iPod with its 30 GB of music and move on to something better that I can play through my home system and good headphones (when my daughter gives them back)
Don't think I really need much memory, as I only plan to load my current listening. As it goes along and I want to archive a high quality down load or rip, I will put it onto a stand-alone backup hard drive.

So, current opinion seems to be that I should go for FLAC. Will this work on an iPod? Or should I buy something else? Like a Sansa? It needs to be portable and small. And above all cheap, like me.
As above, I need to play it through my headphones and home system.

Please suggest the way I should go.
