Open Baffle Speakers

Pros and Cons of open baffle speakers please.

Only great success that I have heard a great load on is the Jamo R907 speakers. Not really a Jamo fan but I was quiet impressed by a set of 3 way floorstanding Jamo speakers earlier this year (not R907)

I want to know how the bass response is and is a lot of bass generated from the open baffle. Also are the speakers more power hungry or not. Seems like it can be an easy DIY project for the holidays provided I have a crossover.
