I love open baffle speakers passionately, but often the compromises prove difficult to live with. Single driver full ranges are ideal in theory, but in practice have limited bandwidth, can be shouty, and less than ideal. So a multi-way it is.

With this project (which has arisen mainly due to availbility of drivers), I have decided to try and do something less compromised, but somewhat more experimental.

150 Hz and down will be handled by a single Peavey BWX SPS per channel. With a Qts approaching 0.6 and a Fs of around 35Hz this should do the business. The rest of the spectrum by a Visaton B200 - a super interesting 8* with a similarly high Qts.

Have constructed the frame of the speaker for tests and XO development. Used an interesting new material - any guesses what it is? About 70% denser than MDF, less toxic, and awesome to work with!
