My father's amplifier (an oldish 5.1 Onkyo) just broke (after many years of living next to the coast). His 5.1 Energy speakers set is *much* nicer (I think it's a set of CF-70's, CB-20's, CC-10 + some ~250W active sub - I've put the links right at the bottom).

I currently have a Yamaha RX-350 and a set of Paradigm Cinema 70's + centre Cinema 110, with my oldish Yamaha active sub. The Yamaha Amp possibly could drive the speakers (I believe) but I don't think its the ideal amp for the job.

My goal is to get a new amp (this is where you, enthralled reader, come in); use 2 of my Paradigm Cinema 70's as rear left & right, use my Yamaha Sub + Energy Sub, along with the other 5 Energy Speakers and have a 7.2 setup (5 Energy speakers, 2 Paradigms as real left/right + 2 subs). I'd obviously have to ensure the subs push out at the same level (can probably just do this with a SPL meter and a constant signal). I'll then use two of the existing Paradigm speakers with my Yamaha RX-350 as a stereo system for my turn-table.

Now the challenge, as you may have guessed is picking a suitable amp. I'd preferably like some suggestions for a ~R5k and a ~R10k amp (I've just recently stopped being a student so times are TOUGH! :p). As a general rule I only purchase new stuff, so any suggestions on what & where to buy would be awesome. If there's something that *very* awesome for slightly over R10k, you can also feel free to suggest that.

Thanks very much for any advice you give me!
