I am looking at powering a set of Tympani 1D's and eventually another set of Tympani's 3b's in my room. I don't have any "proper" amplification as yet but decided to hook up the Tympani 1D's to a Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver. The sound is KAK!!! The very same amplifier used to drive my Maggie MG2B's very well.
I am able to turn the volume up to very MAX on the Yammie in pure direct mode in stereo and the Tympani's just seem to soak up the power.
Some say that Tympani's don't require much power but I am shocked, or is ONLY the Tympani 1d's like this. The volume at this level with other speakers WILL be unbearable or is something wrong here?
