Howzit, first time here
I'm looking to improve on my home theater at the moment - currently I have a PS3 with a healthy collection of BD's, a DVD player and HD PVR. While I do play games on the PS3, BD's would be my main focus when purchasing a receiver.
So right now I'm looking to invest in a AV Receiver and speakers. I'm looking at the following right now, and would appreciate any tips you guys might have:
Sony STR-DA1200ES - Note this would be a second hand unit at R3000.

and then the Yamaha RXV 365 - which I would be buying new

The channels are not an issue for me as 5 are just fine for my setup. But I would like to know if there would be any disadvantages to owning a 7.1 (Sony STR-DA1200ES) while only requiring 5.1 (Yamaha RXV 365)?
Cheers
