HDMI, A strangely unpopular feature of AVR

Is it just me, but every brand I've tried, HDMI boards has failed on me, Yamaha, Marantz, Denon, Onkyo and even an Sony DN1050

The only one that did not fail was the Pioneer AVR and the Onkyo PR-SC 5509 AV Processor,

I've been happy using my Xbox S for video and sound via optical

Any one have any other options they using. that I could also try
