Hello fellow forumites,
I am have slowly been gearing up to biuld myself a DIY sub for music and home theatre (probably a good 50:50 split there), and looking at going LLT. I have a great amp that I picked up from our famous JimGore, its a crown XTI1000 so has fairly sufficient balls to drive some good kit.
I will be going to the US in september so can most likely pick something up from there so local sourcing in SA isn't necessaruly an issue.
So, it's still early days and I am most certainly in the research stage at the moment. I've been checking out a few subs for the build but have no where near the amount of idea / info I need to make a decision so here's where I am reaching out to you forumites.
Can you please recomend (by way of links) some subs I should consider taking a look at.
So far I only have a few items high up non my radar (that I can remember) and those are the TC Sounds LMS Ultra (or other models as the Ultra needs huge power and is EXPENSIVE) found here:
http://www.tcsounds.com/lmsultra5400_main.htm - I might get better results from 2 x other large and good subs for the same price. I like the TC soubds R range too.
And I like the stuff from the Fi Car Audio stable, but don't think that's it's best for a home build. I need to dig deeper and do my research. I like the Q series.

Or alternatively something from the parts express side (like this Dayton Audio, but I don't know them at all):

I am happy to pay good money for something that will last me year and years, so if it's really good stuff I'll happily spend up to 10k on a driver(s). But of course it's a budget folks not a target
So please, if you have any ideas or suggestions of anything I should check out please let me know. All thoughts and ideas are welcome!
My aspiration is to have a sub (or subs?) that give me some really good tight controlled bass, that give a nice solid whack in the chest when the drum kicks hit. No audible distortion what-so-ever and gets nice and low without too much effort. It's certainly do-able if I get my research done right....
