A few years ago I installed fibre which came with a standard TP link router. I gradually upgraded my AV setup to 4k. My movies are stored in a microserver and I use Nvidia Shield to stream from the microserver and from Netflix.

Some big 4k files would buffer all the time and this was blamed on my router. I upgraded to a gigabit router which immediately resolved the problem. One thing I have picked up is the improved picture quality. Not marginally better which we can blame on some sort of bias but much better. This is not for 4k files only but most files including Netflix.

The only thing that has changed in my chain is the router. Can LAN speed improvement improve picture quality?
