Hello all,
I recently purchased a pair of used KEF IQ7 floorstanders. I am new to stereo systems but I am extremely happy with my purchase. The sound quality is perfect for my untrained ears. I did notice a rattle on a certain frequency, though. After some inspection I noticed that my driver came loos from the suspension, which causes the irritating rattling noise.
After some research I saw that, in addition to the suspension being fixed/replaced, the coils can also be rewound. What is the use for this rewinding? If I am happy with the speakers' output, shouldn't I just let sleeping dogs lie? What else can/should be done in a repair/service shop?
Also, which is a good place to do this in the Johannesburg area? Have anyone used Loudspeaker Doctor in Germiston? Could they be recommended?
Thanks.
