So,
After more that a year of searching, I finally settled on an Onkyo / Polk system, which was delivered this week.
Now for the next challenge - installation :-\
I have two placement possibilities, as per the pic below :
Now Ive checked out the DOlby, DTS and THX websites for placement advice, and they all seem to recommend the option on the right.
However, this would only be ideal for seating position 1 - my priorities are at the very least seating position 1 and 2, and only if possible, 3. (The amp has a 3 point Audyssey setup routine, which is perfect).
Now my question is - would the placement on the right (as recommended by Dolby, THX etc) work out ok for seating position 2 and 3 ? Im concerned that they are parallel to the rear surround speakers, thus not getting the full effect of the surrounds.
Would the placement option on the right not work better for all 3 seating positions, since all 3 positions have a direct line of sight to the speakers ? Or would it mean sacrificing position 1?
My intention is to test the 2 options out as well, but Im still very far from that stage (still have to hack my TV stand so that the center will fit.) Would be nice to hear your opinions as well, to help with the planning phase.
Finally, with regards to surround height - some sites recomend seated ear level, others standing ear level. Whats the general concensus ? I prefer higher, for safety reasons.
Thanks in advance.
