    Subwoofer price recommendations please

I would be happy with R4k. Let's see what others have to say in the meantime I'm going to put the add up at R4k. Might adjust the price later following feedback from this thread.

    Subwoofer price recommendations please

Hi Guys, I have a yamaha ns-sw300 subwoofer that I want to put up for sale but not sure what price to put it at. I want to price it so that it goes quickly and that both the seller and buyer feels they got a fair deal. I see new they go for +- R10k. Not sure how old mine is guessing about 3 -...

    So where do Wharfedales rate....actually.

I upgraded from Wharfedale to Polk. Although Polk is way better than Wharfedale, I admit that I'm missing my Wharfies. My wife actually still prefers the the Wharfies, she mentioned over the weekend that she truly preferred my 'old' speakers.

    1st stop?

I head to 'For Sale' first, then I scan for the keyword 'Rotel' just in case someone advertised one of the amps I need. After the 'Rotel' scan I go through it again to see if there are any other interesting things for sale. I think it is quite addictive, I sometimes wake-up in the middle of the...

    The Kappa 6's...

I PM'ed Quadears and asked him for a demo, upon which point he just sold them. I'm soooo glad it's you that purchased them, I think as part of our other deal we must include a good listening session. :dop:

Should we be throwing our VCRs away?

The video shops I remember had the VHS section and then a smaller Betamax section (usually at the back). I remember my dad commenting once as we walked past the Betamx section, luckily we don't need to go in there. So I guess betamax in those days was like driving a Cortina these days, if you...

Should we be throwing our VCRs away?

This thing really got me wanting to watch movies on a VCR again. The Panasonic my dad purchased as mentioned in an earlier post hasn't seen much use it looks still new, it does have a tendency to 'pull out' the cassettes though. Is there someone that can do a good job of servicing this unit...

Should we be throwing our VCRs away?

I'm very nostalgic when it comes to VCR's. I can still remember from when I was a small kid, we had this National (Now Panasonic) VCR, those days it must have been big to have a VCR. All my parents friends that also had small kids use to come over on Friday's then they made like a family bed...

    Whats your amplifier set to

Depends on the blood percentage in my alcohol stream. Alone at home listening to music it's usually flat, but when I have friends over and a few drinks the bass knob tends to get turned up a bit.

    Why I hate shopping........

This is where living in a small town really comes in handy. We buy our daily necessities from our local grocer, smallish shop and a bit more expensive than the big shops. We keep a list on the fridge of stuff needed, in the afternoons I take the list and phone the grocer, give them my order and...

I checked it out on the website. That A-S3000 gives me goose bumps. I honestly wish thou that Yamaha will start selling separates again.

    Home Theatre Room Revamp

As I understand it is that ceiling board reflects bass. You will basically have to leave a (big) hole in your bulkhead ceiling, then you fill it with rockwool/treatments and cover with a material. As you say there must be some sort of acoustically clear material that is white to cover it with.

How good/respected is Polk Audio ?

Especially at the price the 1092 is going for I would much rather take the 1090, if I can find one.

I'll go and take a picture over the weekend for you of the skirting/trunking. This is something I really wish I had done.

    Home Theatre Room Revamp

I've built a few bulkhead ceilings, I have a few nice ideas. I'm especially keen on ones that have multiple heights. One idea I've been toying with is to incorporate Bass traps into the ceiling.

    Home Theatre Room Revamp

I saw a good idea a few weeks back. The guy spaced his skirting off the wall about 3cm with a strip of wood at the top, then he added a hinge at the top to allow the skirting to swivel upwards. This in effect creates a very clean and virtually unseen trunking through which he runs his cabling...

How good/respected is Polk Audio ?

Yes, I know with those insane speakers you've got... But I have not heard yours yet. I would actually like to come for a demo sometime if you don't mind. I have an idea in my head that I would like to get your opinion and input on.

How good/respected is Polk Audio ?

I owned a few speakers but was never satisfied, I just could not find a speaker that sounded 100% right to me. I purchased an amp from Bizkit and he demoed his Rti-A7's to me - I was immediately hooked. Bizkit subsequently upgraded to Rti-A9's, when I heard them I knew that this was the speaker...

    Amp question

I actually saw a guy fry a tweeter today. He just just turned the volume knob as far as it would go, even after my warning he just continued to play as loud as possible. It took about 30 seconds for the tweeter to fry. Even then the fried tweeter did not deter him, he just commented that these...
