Hi guys. I have a Yamaha RXV1800, and will soon be getting a Monitor Audio RS6 speaker package. I'm thinking of getting a power amp (Primare 30.5), a 5 channel power amp - 120 watts into 8 ohms X 5.
I'm wondering If it's worth my while to get a power amp, to improve sound even more. The Yamaha is rated at 130 watts X 7, so has no problem in stereo. The main thing I'd like to improve is the stereo sound for music.
Should I just go for a cheaper power amp to drive the system in stereo better. But then will the front speakers not be overpowered in 5.1 when watching movies. I'm only now exploring power amps, so i'd appreciate all the advice I can get, plus suggestions of what to look for and what price to pay (2nd hand goods only).
