Streaming from phone to amp help.
« on: August 12, 2017, 05:59:25 PM »
Hi all.
I need to know if there is some "box" out there that I can play music or streamed audio from my phone to a line input on my amp.
I need audio only, no picture, so it has to have analogue out. It goes to a stereo amp with line in's only.

I'm currently using a Logitech Bluetooth module that works and sounds good enough for its intended purpose, but range is the issue.

I get about 7 metres max, which is not good enough. Using Android BTW and my whole house is covered by wifi.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Chromecast looks like a good option.

Another +1 for ChromeCast, I have the full spec on with HDMI output, but it works for music streaming as well.
VERY easy to use, works with Android and Apple and cheap (especially if you get a mate to buy you one from overseas)

Thanks everyone.
The Chromcast "audio only " seems to be the most practical device for my purposes.
It's main purpose would be for me to listen to my patio speakers by actually having my phone or tablet with me outside.
The amp is in the lounge about 10 metres away, but my wifi covers inside and outside my house.

Thanks for the offers and options. Cheers.

I think chromecast will allow you to play any audio off Android?
WR100 is more app specific.  I may be wrong.

Tidal playback to chromecast is also a win I think.

I'm hoping whatever I can Bluetooth from my phone, I can "cast ". whether its you tube music or files that I've copied to the memory card.

You Tube, Netflix, Google Music, Apple Music, TuneIn.....all can be cast to a ChromeCast, as long as the phone has a wifi signal and so does the ChromeCast, you can cast to it.

Droid or iOS or both?

Both for Netflix and You Tube........even works from a windows machine.

I have to correct myself it looks like you have to install the google play music manager to cast music from a iDevice: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6178107?co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS&hl=en&oco=2
