Stop there is a new King
« on: January 22, 2017, 07:16:41 PM »
I connected the Soekris up as a plankie,
i have the amanero usb board and connected the output to the raw output. from there into the headphone amp.
well to say i am blown away would be an understatement.
thank you to Rolin and of course Gavin for the help.
i can honestly say do not ever waste any money on a dac again.
the soekris blows anything i have played into headphones.
it has a forward projection, wide sound stage , is unbelievably quite and separation is off the charts.
i cannot wait for all the bits to arrive for the main rig setup.
although i am going to have to order another one for the headphones.
i think that the soekris for the money has got to blow the competition out of the water.
i tried it on the LCD2's and could not believe the clarity, then the beyers and then the senny's.
i cannot believe theat this DAC at this price is doing what it is doing. i have had a multitude of DAC's and can say none have had this detail, warmth and clarity.

i am a convert.
as it is as a single board is better than most i have played with.
get one you will be filled with a thousand smiles.

Not surprised to hear this, it's stupendous value for money unless you buy one that's been badge engineered.
Audiophile: There is almost no other group that prides themselves more on wasting good money on utterly worthless ****, and then trying to furiously blow smoke up their own ass to justify it.

Free your mind...and your ass will follow.

I assume he is using the 7-0/7-0 transformer only. Not sure what 3.3V is?
Craig?

Don't blame the Soekris, the Amanero drivers is at fault here.

To get DSD512 on capable XMOS chips one pays for the Windows driver...

Craig,

Welcome to team plankie...

That low noise 20VA transformer is larger than I pictured.

See you serial connection is unfinished. Needed if you wish to upgrade firmware or change filters/level/invert output or set to dual-mono.

@itscraig: I'm filled with envy and regret, but also a lot of joy that the H/W is being used and satisfactory for you.

I must pop-by, when time allows [June seems sorta open :p ], to listen to it... I'll bring the LCD-4 & HD800S headphones along
Well done bud!  I just hope my 'badged', off the shelf comes close to it, considering the huge price I'm paying for it.
