MHDT labs Pagoda Dac
« on: January 21, 2017, 07:54:25 PM »
Last week i took a visit to Francois Audioexchange  to pick up his  sample unit of  the mhdt  pagoda dac
One thing i can say is its ugly .
If you are one of those who is into aesthetics, and components that match your system in looks . Then this is  not for you
One thing I can Say  this is one beautiful dac
For those that cant afford the lampizators  and the audiomats and the dac10s  this is something to listen to
I need more of these dacs brought in .
At less than or close to 20K  its really something for those who , Wanna upgrade  from entry level dacs .
i don't know if its the PCM1704  burr brown dacs or the valves ., but it had me listening for hours everything from rock to rap to  jazz and and all sorts of other things
I  was reluctant to let this baby go back .
It does get really warm so adequate ventilation
i put some diy snake oil to lift it up

Initially it seemed the little single ended brother was the one that going to come in. Even the SE version has a healthy 3V rms at 32ohm output, balanced version double.
The previous version used the PCM56 chips.

Some say a healthy output component, which is normally louder is preferred by most.

Happy to see the dual tube balanced version was sampled.

What input was used? usb?

I think its not ugly but not attractive

Indeed the beauty of this one is INSIDE...packed with it!! Just look at this:
