I read once that Tube and Class A amplifiers typically have a lower rated output than Class AB amps because they have more control than the latter.
AFAIK the statement was made that a 40WPC Class A amp will outperform a Class AB rated at 75WPC. Any truth in that and if so could you post a laymen's explanation?
Off course there is a good reason behind asking the question, but depending on the answers I may reveal the reason ;D
