Hi everyone,thanks for viewing my thread,I learned a lot from this site.
I have a question that's probably been asked before,but mine is specific to my av receiver.
Okay,I have a Yamaha rx v457 receiver,it's a great amp for my audio needs.
It does not have hdmi outputs/inputs.
At the moment I'm using RCA 3.5mm jack to input audio from my laptop to the receiver for sound.
I'd like to output the stereo to my Yamaha amp and create virtual surround sound.
I have the 5.1 setup connected to my receiver.
What is the best option select on my receiver as the options are numerous and confusing.
Dolby digital,plus,enhanced ,..etc.
What I'm looking for is ,what is the best option for watching a movie that my Yamaha will decode the stereo input to 5.1 via my RCA connection.
When I buy a new TV I'll use the optical connection,lol.
