I recently acquired my brother in law's old TV as it is slightly newer than my one. I have it hooked up to an AR sub that powers a pair of matching bookshelf speakers.
Unfortunately the TV is a Samsung and in their wisdom, the RCA outs are fixed level so I cannot adjust the volume without twiddling the knobs on the back of the sub. TV doesn't have a headphone out which would have been a work around, it does have optical out but that has the same issue.
Is there a very simple volume control that I can put between the TV and sub? I know I could look for a cheap preamp (or DAC with volume control) but that seems like overkill. Any ideas? Bonus if it has a remote but anything would be better than adjusting on the sub directly.
