Hi, I built the 250w V8 Annihilator amps in 1990, so over 30 years old. They have 4 x 6600uf 75 VDC caps in each amp. I noticed the Bass was not as good as it used to be however not bad. The attack was lacking. More washed out and muddy.
Questions:
1. Can I test them whilst still connected with the power off. Using a multimeter?
2. Are they dangerous? Dead short to chassis would be a problem as no earth on 2 prong plugs going into the RS 2 pre amp.
3. Replacements caps seem expensive in Australia. $90 each (R900) - I can buy direct from China.
4. Which caps would you use as a replacement?
5. Do they need to be replaced?
