So yesterday our house took a near direct strike, tripping the power (oddly only one earth leakage though).
We saw the storm coming and unplugged the DSL router and our PCs and network connections. My wife got clever and yanked out the multi-plug, I just plugged out the IEC cord on the box and the network cable. Her PC booted up, mine is dead as can be. The SSD survived but seems the gfx card and motherboard are toast.
I now have to test through all the gear that was hooked up at the time, thankfully my data is safe. So far one amp is out of action.
Now for the question, I've never claimed from household insurance before. How long does one typically wait for insurance to replace these parts? Their assessor came to pick up the PC (Intel Pilot Point chassis with an ASUS workstation board) and said his report would be done tomorrow.
