I recently bought a switchmode power supply for one of my Nagra RtoR machines.
The 4.2 is dead quiet when I use the p/supply with it but the model E is not happy with it at all and I can hear a faint sound similar to a piece of card held against a fast spinning cycle wheel.
I can move the cables every which way but the intrusive sound remains. The Nagra is almost 1m away from the p/supply and I can easily fit a much longer cable if this will help.
The dc output cable originally had the customary ferrite thing fitted but this I had to discard as it was too close to the 6-pin din plug I fitted.
Will it help if I fit the bits inside an aluminium project box? Inside the supply's plastic box is already a folded aluminium cover over 3 sides of the innards, also doubling as a heatsink.
Or is the p/supply 'injecting' the noise into the Nagra via the dc output cable?
Thanks
