Hi All

The endlessly fascinating and on going discussion of what sounds best and what is practical/economical regarding audio bandwidth in amplifiers is further discussed in this article:

https://www.cascadetubes.com/2013/12/27/how-much-audio-bandwidth/

The main point for me is smaller transformers are faster and less lossy due to shorter wire length and less iron mass, and bigger transformers are better with bass, but can have other effects from iron saturation/high inductance etc. that also limits the "bigger is better" argument.

The article writer suggests: " For musical reproduction, the 40Hz to 70Hz low end roll off seems entirely appropriate."

This discussion can quickly become technical. I do not want to go deep into the intricacies of human hearing and iron properties as to lose the point. But everyday I design OPT and the issues of bandwidth/iron flux/ metal losses balancing come to the fore. What is your opinion regarding this discussion?
