I'm new to DIY audio, but luckily there are some smart people on this forum. Hope to take this further than just a theoretical discussion and actually build it. See this as a bit of a challenge for now.
I want to build my own power speaker / monitor. I'm thinking I would need speakers or drivers (2 way / 3 way), cross-overs?, amplifier, power supply and will have to build an enclosure.
Any suggestions on parts? and part combinations?
Criteria as follows:
Can this be done? Is it maybe better just to buy something like a wharfedale titan?

Criteria as follows:
- Total cost - R2k to R3k
- Needs to "pump", for the lack of a better word. Think playing at a hostel party, so no need to be audiophile grade
- Physical size not an issue
- Durability would be a plus
- The simpler design, the better. So for example, if there are "all in one" type speakers that would do a great job, please point them out to me
- Value for money is critical
Can this be done? Is it maybe better just to buy something like a wharfedale titan?
