Advise for middle aged man and his family

Considering the recent happenings in the Republic of South Africa. What would you do were you in my shoes keeping in mind i am 29 years old, have a wife and 2 year old daughter and also a second child due in April. We are doing alright but i am a realist and want the best for my family so i know it is time to put the necessary measures in place for fear of the worst. 

I do trust the opinions of many people on this forum hence seeking advise here first. Perhaps my judgement is clouded at the moment and there are other options to explore also.
