I'm really looking for some good advice here, either on this thread, or if willing to discuss over a call.
In the lounge, the kit worth noting for this discussion is a Marantz AV7702mkii, hard wired into an Asus RT-AC5300 router, with media files on a network connected iMac which is on the floor above. Managing these files (excluding the HD music) has always been via the Apple TV's throughout the house. I'm happy with this mostly, but not for music in the lounge. Here I want access to the HD stuff.
So, what I would like is to be able to access files via the AV media server source, with the ability to play my HD music files in the best quality possible.
Three options:
Hard drive directly on the router USB with all my flac and dsd stuff on?
NAS wired on the network with the same files on?
A media server installed on the iMac... but what would be best? JRiver vs Plex vs other?
Thankful for some gentle guidance here...
