You have to change your display settings. It will eider show what's being decoded or what sound field is being used. Haven't had a yamaha for a while so can't direct you to exactly where you do it. But most probably just a button on your remote

never had a problem with Dolby true HD before. DTS high resolution disks always has this problem.  Sounds like sound iscutting out. Switch to pcm also resolves this. The music settings makes no difernce with movie playback as far as I can tell.

Resolved by puting the PS3 decoding on pcm.  System usd. Onkyo 717, 2 X parasound 2250 running A9 bi-amp. 2125 parasound running A6 centre, 2125 parasound running A3 surrounds. Polk 660 sub. PS3. Samsung 55" 7500 led.

I agree with Mars, it could be a problem with the receiver. This is very often caused by amp clipping, espesially if the tweeter goes.

What's  your receiver and speakers power ratings?

Lol my neighbours have not complained once. You would think that extra power will just make it go louder, it doesnt. Everything is just more controlled and sounds better

Baseline I will have to disagree with you. The extra power made a missive improvement n over all sound quality. Deeper harder bass and high freq is not harsh even on thx listening level. The A9s are smoot now and that's the best way I can discribe it. Also don't forget about the danger of amp...
