I've always been keen to get a valve preamp and/or amplifier, and this is perhaps as good a start as any: the DarkVoice 336SE OTL Headphone Tube Amplifier

So, what are the better online resources on the subject of the different valves and their function? And tube based phono preamps? The idea is to build one next year
