This seems to be emerging as the latest lock-down fascination from Whatsapp to Facebook videos being shared.

I've listened to a few, and at first the are novel & therefore intriguing, then after a while I find them just irritating.

What I've noticed is the music pans in a circular motion around your head (listening to 8D must be done with headphones).

There is no spatial placement of instruments, simply a swirling mess of sound.

These two illustrate exactly that swirling effect:

AC/DC - Hells Bells: https://youtu.be/r_v5xVGM_H4

Mozart - Lacrimosa (plus it is awfully distorted.): https://youtu.be/nrKaY2IMF2g

The closest to any sort of "8D" image placement I've found (albeit without an extensive search) are the following:

Pagannini - la Campanella: https://youtu.be/8zmA6NPFLQE - gives the impression of the violinist walking around, almost a type of bistro setting with the violinist strolling between the tables type of imaging.

Pink Floyd - The Great Gig in the Sky: https://youtu.be/EchjneicAYo - the opening 2 minutes are great, but once the vocals commence it just gets stupid wafting around in space.

Any other folks listened to 8D? I have no idea why it's called that, seems the same as Binaural?
