Rotel RMB - 1075 Owners?
« on: January 10, 2018, 12:55:29 PM »
Can anyone who owns this power amp provide some feedback as to how this amp performs on a 4ohm impedance.
Does the amp gets very hot or any issues that arose etc.

I am planning to wire up my floorstanders for 4 ohm and use 2 of the 5 channels to power them

Thanks.

I have a 1075 but it drives an 8ohm load.

http://www.rotel.com/sites/default/files/product/manuals/RMB-1075-OM.pdf
This is the manual. Look at page 7 at the section "speaker connection". Rotel recommends a load of 4ohm or higher and can drive a 4ohm speaker if it is only stereo. I think you are pretty safe. The amp does have quite a good protection circuit should an issue occur, it will kick in.
Just make sure it is well ventilated.

One more thing, does your protection LEDs all light up when the amp is switched off and is this normal?

They all light up for a split second when you turn the amp on. This I have specifically taken notice of.
I vaguely recall them also lighting up when you power down but never really taken specific notice of this. I'll have to check this and confirm.

If your speakers are bi-ampable then do that rather. If you are not going to use the other channels.

I had one for several years. The leds briefly lighting up when powering on and off (more slowly for the latter) is entirely normal on this amp and several other Rotel models.
