Which Car Battery (Varta): Opel Corsa B UTE
« on: November 23, 2017, 09:26:06 AM »

Hi Chaps.

In a bit of a spin, as need to get a car battery for 2007 Opel Corsa B UTE soonest.

I'd like to get a VARTA but which size?

Do I go 657 (74Ah) or 680 or are these too big?

Vehicle is fitted with a basic Pioneer car radio and Alarm/imobiliser.

What is the current size in the car and what is the recommended size in the manual. Bigger isn't always better. Especially when it comes to oversizing the battery for the alternator capability. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve and why. OEM is good , for a good reason. It works   ;)

Get the closest one to what is currently fitted.  VARTA is as good as any other.  Deltech and Raylite are supposed to be better batteries, hence they cost a bit more
Even duct tape can’t fix stupid… but it can muffle the sound

Am struggling to get hold of the OEM battery details, Chris. (current battery non-OEM spec, with Corsa's handbook being in Stellenbosch.)

What to do, - as definitely want to retain the OEM spec?  :nfi:

(internet is not too helpful either)

'628' rings a bell, though unsure if for Citi Golf or Corsa.

The battery centre is suppose to be able to look up in a book. That is what they do here whenever I fit a new battery.

Thank you, confirmed with dealer and is indeed a 628, with the new Vartec 628's being  rated at 60Ah spec.

Thank you Gents, will be collecting it shortly.
