Help needed Denon 3806

Hi
Just got around to setting up a used 3806.
Need some help please.
Cant get dstv (explora) to work via hdmi but bluray coming through hdmi nicely.
Any ideas

I'm no expert but try swopping the hdmi inputs of the 2 devices and see if anything changes.

Tried that,unfortunately to no avail.
Just hear the switching sound and searching for signal

probably never going to work ..... the AVR3806 is from 2006 and my AVR2808 from 2008 also had handshake issues with every DSTV decoder i tried

the only solution was to use the HDMI cable direct from the decoder to the TV (as long as the TV had the extra HDMI inputs) and then to connect the audio via optical or coax to the AVR, and this causes no issues since you wont ever get HD audio on DSTV and the best they will broadcast is dolby digital which obviously will be transmitted perfectly via optical or coax

those earlier Denon HDMI models always had this issue for as long as i can remember though im sure newer models from 2009 upward were fixed IIRC

Oh no. Please don't say that.
Only bought 3806 cos Optoma projector does not have audio out.
Explora is far from projector and hdmi already run. Not keen on running another cable.
Maybe hdmi splitter with optic out if all else fails??
