Could it not be that the R28F are made more with a specific use case in mind ie being able to be powered by an AVR in a Home theatre...

I Just cant understand why they would not sound good with a Normal Av Receiver ? I Have a Denon X4200W and in pure direct on my Klipsch...

My 120’s started on a NAD304. And sounded great.

I Dont think the issue is Only power related , but that is my Opinion I connected a Nad 3020A to floor standing speakers and it sounded...

Is your Speakers set to Large on the settings ? But Pure Direct is supposed to Bypass that but just make sure .....
