The lightning storm we had a couple of days ago has blown the HDMI port on my HD/PVR 2 decoder, although everything else works fine. I do not have DSTV insurance on this unit - this happened not 24 hours after I completed a survey informing them I had no interest in their insurance swap-out plan!!

So it is logical to replace the unit with an Explora unit. The blown decoder is my primary decoder and I have another identical decoder in another part of the house as secondary unit, which feeds the Projector in that room.

I assume I can simply set up the Explora as the primary unit and get DSTV to deactivate the old decoder end enable the new one?

The problem now is I will probably never get to see the recorded programs on that unit's hard drive?
