I'm experiencing the same issue with my EC 4.7 pre as I did with the EC integrated many years ago. Very scratchy noise and tonal imbalance between the channels at low volume.
After my listening sessions I always turn the volume to zero. This morning when turning on the system and gradually increasing the volume, the scratching is intense to the point I thought a tweeter was about to blow
As soon as the volume pot reaches a comfortable listening volume it all settles.
I know this is often reported with EC. Is this a serious issue and can it potentially damage the speakers? Worth replacing the volume pot? Or does it just need a bit of Q20?
