Volume on DSTV HD channels

Can anybody tell me why, when I change from a standard channel to a HD channel on DSTV, there is a huge increase in the volume!
I am using a Sony receiver to control the volume, not the DSTV remote. I am sure that something is off in the settings somewhere! Can anybody point me in the right direction on this issue?
