I know I should know better.
1.) How do you stop mid-vinyl? Should you first lift the arm or should you turn off the motor and let the whole thing come to a standstill. I normally just lift the arm, but every now and again I'm a bit unsteady with the hand. Is there any damage done either way? Stopping the motor is definitely easier.
2.) Can you use MM on a MC stage? I've got a phono stage built into my amp (Musical Fidelity A1). I have a MM cart, but it sounds very average on MM when selected on the amp. If however it is swopped to MC it is much livelier. I personal feeling is that with MC all that occurs is that there is greater gain. I find that on MM there is just not enough gain and to compensate for the lack of gain I turn up the amp which begins to make everything a little cloudy.
I think that is all. (For now)
