Hi a update: So i ran the sub out RCA from the yamaha ampt to the sanyo rceiver. sanyo is quite old, only has cd,tape phono inputs,i used cd i then connected the passive sub to the 'SUB' speaker level output on the sanyo. bass is too muddy,i can vary the volume, but it seems out of sync. Dont know if all of this makes sense. Some additional info,i cant access all of the controls on the yamaha, cause the important setups can only be performed via the remote control and thats not working properly, only the volume buttons<?> work. So, in essence ,id like to add a passive sub to my Yamaha RX-V457. The remote control doesnt work,so no access to setup like sub xcrossover. In meantime, how would i add the passive sub to my speaker out channels, mainly for stereo music. ill tackle the subout when i get the remote fixed or buy a powered sub, when cash is there! Thank u everyone, appreciate ur advice i
