I've been reading some of the older posts on the forum to get a sense of what the cause of my problem is:
When I play a cd, the music sometimes seems to "jump" making a loudish clicking noise. This does not always happen and the same cd does not always give the same problem.
Could it be that:
1. I have a slipping drive belt?
2. There is dust on the lens?
3. There is a problem with the electronic circuit that regulates the reading of the data from the cd?
4. ... insert appropriate question an uninitiated fool like me might miss...?
Your thoughts will be appreciated. I don't want to start tinkering until I know the options.
BTW: When it plays, it plays damn fine! Hopefully some day I could lay my hands on a propper DAC, like the famous gerDAC... if ger decides to come out of retirement... ;D
